Camp Mehamn

Camp Mehamn

Mehamn consists of one of the best fishing areas in Norway, not only is the sea there an ideal place for anglers who dream of big personal best record, but also Mehamn’s immediate surroundings offer over 400 different fishing spots in the form of streams, rivers, ponds and small tars that you as a customer could use, for example when there is a strong wind at sea that would prevent you from going out on the open sea, this could be a good alternative. Or we can also trailer the boats to a nearby harbour where the winds are qouite less windy.

In the vicinity of our base there are fishing spots that are considered to be among the best and relatively unfished in Norway. The species richness is fantastic, better than in many other places in Norway, you can fish for cod very close to the camp, and catch big halibut just a short distance from the fight by boat. With a bit of luck, you can also count on record numbers of plaice weighing 2-4 kg. Around Mehamn are some of Scandinavia’s best salmon fishing waters, and in the Tanaelv and Laxelv rivers, if you like fly fishing and spinning, you can catch trout, sea trout and char.

Did you know that: The world’s largest cod was caught near Mehamn in 2018! It weighed an incredible 55.7 kg. The fish was about 172 cm long. We had a replica of that fish made and it now adorns Camp Mehamn and has become a landmark in Mehamn.
